The Final Push

The Final Push

If you could save a life by taking a life, would you do it? If you were a medical student, and with a single lethal injection you could repair your shattered world, would you place thumb on syringe and push? Michael Higgins is that student, and he has found himself in this very situation. Do you think he will play God and take one life so another may live? You won’t have to wait much longer to find out.

The Final Push, a (longish) short story, is almost finished. I need to tidy up a few things, send it off to the editor, and if there are no major rewrites needed, it should be available by year’s end. The Final Push is the first piece of fiction I wrote and has served as a precursor for everything I’ve written since. The style is very similar to what you will see in the McBride trilogy of novels—The Organ Takers, The Organ Growers, and The Organ Killers—so if you like The Final Push, you’ll like the McBride trilogy. For more about the story, and the novels, go here.
